About Us Inspire was established at the end of 2004 as a brand new and independent Education Business Partnership for Hackney.
Hackney is a vibrant, multi-cultural inner London borough with people from a wide range of different cultures and speaking many languages. Our programmes and support are available to all schools and colleges in the borough – over 80 in total.
We are a registered charity and provide and broker a wide range of activities and programmes for schools, all made possible through the contributions of our many business partners.
Our activities include:- mentoring programmes to support individual children or small groups of pupils
- enterprise challenges and preparation for work activities to help pupils develop the skills and understanding to be successful in adult and working life
- working with employers to set up work placements to give students a real experience of working life and practices
- bringing volunteers from the world of work into school to share their experiences and knowledge and inspire young people.
- supporting schools in developing vocational courses through strengthening employer engagement and developing work-related enrichment activities
- professional development placements and providing advice, support and resources for school staff.
In our first school year over 4000 young people from 50 schools have participated in an Inspire programme, thanks to the support of over 1000 employee volunteers. Over 550 employers have taken a Hackney student on a work experience placement within the last year and are leading the way in our Inspire a Hackney Student campaign. 20 City firms, as well as the Learning Trust in Hackney, have made or are continuing a commitment to partner a Hackney school and provide volunteers to support students on a regular basis. |
